Elaborate cartouche in upper left corner of map. Hills, and embankments are etched along the meandering canal including placement of homesteads.
A plan of the Grand Canal from the mouth of the River Mersey to Leeds in northern England. It is sparsely ornamented with a sylvan border for the cartouche and light hatching to show some topography. Distance from Leeds to Bason and Bason to Liverpool via the canal are tabled and the scale bar is in English miles. The coordinates were derived via georeferencing, and the scale was calculated from the scale bar.
