Highly descriptive map of the southern Polar Regions (Antarctic) centering on the pol and northward to the Tropic of Capricorn. Indicated on the map are: 18th & 18th century land sightings, "Land Yet Undiscovered" and "Frozen Sea as Supposed". New Zealand is and Australia, Cape of Good Hope, Africa, and Cape Horn South America are shown on map as is a section of Madagascar Island. Interestingly, this volume of Gentleman's Quarterly published by Edward Cave but identified by his pen name "Sylvanus Urban".
